I don’t know if it’s my favorite Dave Sullivan play or I just like the name. I do know that it brings a smile to my face just thinking about yelling that from the sideline or telling teams (boys and girls) in the locker room that we will run it against full court man.
Drift, sail, lock, blue, green … I could go on and on… St Thomas basketball- Dave Sullivan.
I remember as our oldest, Patrick, was moving from 6th to 7th grade a parent asked me why a guy without a child on the team was coaching the varsity. I didn’t know you well then but I simply responded “because he’s the coach”. That year I was your assistant and it was the start of a basketball and personal relationship that I truly cherish.
I can remember discovering the answer to the parents question fairly quickly. Observing your dedication, drive, patience and passion told it all. You have taken hundreds of boys ready to move past grammar school and given them a life lesson in your special way.
We are all grateful to have the good fortune to have you in our lives.
