The "Papi" Play... story from Brian O'Toole

A few years back St. Thomas had a 6'1 player in the eighth grade named Alex Torre. Dave was ecstatic, finally having some height and designed a specific underneath the basket out of bounds play, that in his estimation was a guaranteed layup every time, and rightfully so..
Well, we had to come up with a name for the play.. since all the kids had nicknamed Alex, Papi so became the name of the play.
First game, St. Thomas has the ball under the basket, perfect time to utilize the big man so Dave yells out run "Papi".
The play starts and Alex runs out to the corner and sets himself up to shoot a three pointer.
Dave couldn't help but keep repeating, "I can't believe it I finally got a big kid, we name the play after him and he is in the corner looking for the ball to shoot a three." He went on and on about that, but you better believe all of the other times the play "Papi" was called it resulted in an easy layup.
